At Kanalhølen, you fish privately across three exclusive pools reserved entirely for your group. This creates a calm and uninterrupted experience on the river, where you can fish whenever you want and as much as you want — without rotation schedules or coordination with other anglers.During your stay, you also have exclusive access to the entire property, including the river, riverside huts (“gapahuker”), wood-fired sauna, main house and annex.

Exclusive rental of Kanalhølen starts from NOK 65,000 per week during June, July, and the first half of August. The second half of August is priced from NOK 35,000.
If you would like to rent the property for 3–4 days, this may also be possible – please contact us for pricing.
We unfortunately do not offer individual fishing permits, only exclusive rental of the entire property.
Kanalhølen is well suited for groups of up to 8 guests. The property offers 5 spacious bedrooms and a total of 8 beds across the main house and annex.It is also possible to accommodate up to 10 guests if two guests share double beds.
Yes, we offer experienced local guides with extensive knowledge of the fishing pools and fly fishing techniques. Guiding can be tailored to your needs — please contact us for more information.
You can fly into Trondheim Airport Værnes, located approximately 1.5 hours by car from Kanalhølen. The airport offers direct flights from Oslo, Bodø, Mo i Rana and other major Norwegian cities.
It is easy to get around the property, and all fishing areas are within walking distance. The house is located just a 3-minute walk from the lowest pool, Skolehølen. This is also where you will find the largest riverside hut (“gapahuk”), featuring an indoor fireplace, dining space for 8 guests, and a wood-fired sauna.There is a riverside hut at each pool, and all huts are accessible by car.A small boat in the river also provides easy access to fishing from the opposite bank.
Yes, you are very welcome to bring your own fishing equipment. We can also assist with equipment rental — please contact us for more information.
All types of fishing gear are permitted, with the exception of shrimp bait. Both fly fishing and spinner fishing work very well in the river.
No, fishing permits and access to the fishing pools are included when booking Kanalhølen. Please note that everyone fishing for salmon and sea trout in Norway must pay the national fishing fee (“fiskeravgift”). Click here to view local fishing regulations.
The River Orkla opens for salmon fishing on June 1st. The salmon fishing season is excellent from early June through the end of August.Sea trout typically enter the river around July 1st, and it is encouraging to see healthy numbers returning after being fully protected for several seasons.
In the River Orkla, you can fish for salmon, brown trout and sea trout. Brown trout and sea trout are currently protected and must be carefully released back into the river.
